I recently started using the Vida by Paderno Skimmer in Peppercorn Gray. It has quickly become one of my favourite kitchen utensils. Its lightweight yet sturdy design makes food prep effortless and I’ve discovered so many uses for it in my daily cooking and weekly food prep.

One of my favourite ways to use the skimmer, aside from boiling potatoes and scoop draining pasta is to use it for boiling eggs. The wide, slotted surface is perfect for gently lifting eggs in and out of the water without cracking them. The long handle keeps my hands safe from the steam. It’s also fantastic for blanching vegetables, skimming foam from broths and scooping pasta from the pot.

The durable, non-scratch material means I can use it with all my cookware without worry. Clean up is a breeze too - no fuss - no hassle and is dishwasher safe.

Durable and not bendy

Strong and light

I received this strainer and it has been so amazing for so many things. It's light and doesn't bend under the weight of anything. I've used it for boiling pasta and pierogies and it's my new favourite skimmer. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who cooks.

A great skimmer

We cooked Jigg's Dinner this week and used the Vida by PADERNO Nylon Skimmer to take up our boiled vegetables and salt meat.

It worked well, and allowed the vegetables and salt meat to drain before being placed in the serving bowls. I was not worried about the Skimmer melting, as it is heat resistant up to 450°F/232°C.

The skimmer is also easy to wash and can be put in the dishwasher. You can also use it on non-stick surfaces without danger of damaging your pots and pans.

A great utensil to have on hand in the kitchen

As someone who loves cooking, I thought I had every utensil that I needed in my kitchen. Well, turns out I didn’t, and I am really glad I added this skimmer!

This Vida by Paderno skimmer is quite large, about a 4-inch circumference, with a non-stick coating and small peppercorn holes. It’s safe to use on non-stick pans and in the dishwasher and heat resistant to 450* Fahrenheit.

I have already found more uses for this than I thought I would have—it works great for removing solids from a soup or broth (bay leaves, chicken bones, etc.) and especially for skimming foam (when making jam or jelly and even from a pot of boiling potatoes). I’ll also use it for removing meat from a sauce if I need to simmer other ingredients. The large size of the skimmer makes quick work of whatever task you have.

I also love that it’s dishwasher safe—easy clean up is key in my kitchen! And the nylon head means my non-stick pans are safe too.

A Solid Staple in the Kitchen

At some point in life, you’re going to need a skimmer when cooking your meals. Therefore, it’s a good idea to get one that is solid, sturdy, and dependable. With a grey, two-toned colouring and firm body and head, the skimmer from Vida by Paderno is ideal for my needs, whether I’m skimming while cooking soup or straining foods when frying.

I found that foods come off easily with a simple wash, and most importantly, there are no stains. I like that it’s dishwasher safe (saves me the trouble of washing up) and heat-resistant for higher temperatures. Plus, the handle is composed of 90 percent recycled materials, showing the brand is actively trying to make a difference in reutilizing plastics.
